Kitchen Assistant

DESCRIPTION

Our small but mighty team at Snuck is looking for an assistant for our head of kitchen. We need someone who is ready & willing to roll up their sleeves, get to work & have fun working in our thriving small business. We are looking for someone who is passionate about all aspects of a kitchen including cooking, preparing food, packaging, & cleaning.

  • Self-starter with a high level of personal responsibility & job ownership
  • Exercises exceptional time management to ensure that all duties are completed in a timely manner
  • Has a willingness to take feedback & adjust as needed, with a focus on building skills & refining palates
  • Can work in groups with enthusiasm to cultivate a positive work environment
  • Has a keen sense of taste & smell, the ability to recognize subtle nuances in flavors, & a natural skill to adjust the flavors of a dish as needed
  • Loves good food (especially greens!)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complies with & strictly upholds all food health & safety regulations, including requirements for food preparation areas & food safety plans
  • Will help supervise & complete the food prep & cooking
  • Maintains an inventory of materials needed for food preparations, packaging, labeling, & presentation
  • Will assist other kitchen staff & deliver quality food on time
  • Will perform other miscellaneous tasks required by the kitchen manager

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year experience in kitchen, commercial or otherwise (Certification from a culinary school or degree in restaurant management is a plus.)
  • Food Handler’s Permit
  • Ability to stand for extended periods & work in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual dexterity & ability to operate cutting tools & other kitchen equipment
  • Keep the kitchen area tidy & clean, using the ‘clean as you go’ approach to be more efficient
  • Experience with recipe management, including scaling up & down as needed
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Driver’s license & ability to commute to work
  • Compensation starts at $15/hr & increases based on performance
