Snuck Farmyard Assistant


DESCRIPTION:

The Farmyard Assistant at Snuck Farm ensures the farm and properties are well maintained and running smoothly. This person is a key player in everything that occurs on the farm and is responsible for furthering the mission of the farm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall, this position is 80% landscape maintenance, 20% projects, and animal care.
  • Oversee maintenance on farm grounds and home properties.
  • Work to maintain the natural environment using organic and sustainable methods. 
  • Plant and maintain the seasonal landscape and garden with a focus on creativity, and beauty.
  • Weeding, mowing, pruning, etc.
  • Assist with farm animal care: feeding and cleaning.


PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to create a fun, positive work environment. 
  • Knowledge of vegetable and flower farming operations. Home gardening experience along with hydroponic and organic farming experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Healthy and energetic with stamina for long days in a physical job environment, including spending much of the day on your feet.
  • Install, adjust, and maintain all irrigation systems on the farm. 
  • Experience and/or ability to operate farm equipment. (skid steer, forklift, trailers, etc.)


HOURS:

  • 20-30 hours per week during the summer season, with the possibility of continuing longer term.
  • Some holiday and weekend work is required depending on the calendar and farm activities.
